I have two goals as a full-time artist:
1. To connect deeply and share meaningful art.
2. And because doing that first thing takes all my work hours: To make a living.
If you feel moved to offer your support, and invest in my continued work as an artist, you have my humble thanks. I have made a list of different ways to offer support. Some are financial, and most cost $0 and ask a few minutes and a few kind words.
Listener support means so much to me. To know that what I am creating, and what I am sharing of myself has meaning to others is a great honour. I treat my role as a creative maker, and this connection with listeners, with deep respect. Thank you <3.
Connecting and sharing art
Email list. One of the most helpful things a listener can do is to join the email list. The email list is the most precious tool an independent artist has to stay connected with listeners, because it is a direct line of connection. It is so key because it is something the artist and listener have control over, themselves. Connections on platforms like Facebook and Instagram are really quite controlled by those businesses. And, as those platforms ebb and flow in popularity, the ability to connect is inconsistent. Email list for the win. And subscribers can unsubscribe any time.
Facebook and Instagram. Did you know Facebook and Instagram operate on algorithms that decide how many people are shown posts? It is interesting. One thing we know about the current algorithm is that the more people interact with the post soon after it goes up, the more it will be shown. So, to be supportive on these platforms, please consider:

Commenting with more than 4 words (this is for real. The algorithm likes longer sentences and questions)

Streaming whenever you can :) . Having a high number of monthly streaming listeners on any platform is really helpful. High numbers makes me more noticeable to playlist makers and industry people, and that is really valuable! Links to streaming here.
Livelihood
Buy. I have songs and albums for sale on my website and on bandcamp. Bandcamp is an excellent platform that sends a large % of sales to artists.
Stream (a lot). My music is up on most streaming sites. I wonder if you have heard of the dismal payouts of Spotify and most streaming platforms? Spotify pays out around $0.004 per listen — that's 0.4 cents or four-tenths of a penny. This means that a musician would need around 250 streams to earn just a dollar. School Workshop. Would you like to sponsor a Zoom songwriting workshop for a school? I am able to adjust my in-person workshop to be remote! It is still fun and good, just more distant.
